The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Chiba Jets as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Chiba Jets smashed 3rd placed San-en NeoPhoenix at home 97-55. Chiba Jets dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to San-en NeoPhoenix's 26. They outrebounded San-en NeoPhoenix 39-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. Chiba Jets looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by San-en NeoPhoenix's players. American forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. International power forward Ryumo Ono (197-88) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. Canadian center Scott Morrison (213-86, college: Portland St., agency: Pensack Sports) answered with 13 points and 6 rebounds and the former international center Atsuya Ota (206-84) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for San-en NeoPhoenix. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chiba Jets have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Toyota Alvark. San-en NeoPhoenix lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with 24 games lost. San-en NeoPhoenix will play next round against Yokohama BC trying to get back on the winning streak. Chiba Jets will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa.
