Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Beirut: Beirut Club (#3) and Homenetmen (#2). Beirut Club (15-10) won against visiting Homenetmen (20-5) 92-88. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Homenetmen. Beirut Club forced 19 Homenetmen turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) came up with 30 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and American swingman Sam Young (198-85, college: Pittsburgh) added 28 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively for Homenetmen in the defeat. Beirut Club have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place in Group A with 15-10 record having seven points less than leader Al Riyadi. Homenetmen at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. Beirut Club's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Beirut to the arena Sagesse.
