There was a small surprise in Saporro where sixth ranked Hokkaido L. (24-23) defeated 6th ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (23-25) 89-72 on Wednesday. Hokkaido L. shot 23 for 32 from the free-throw line, while Hitachi Sunrockers only scored seven points from the stripe. Hokkaido L. forced 19 Hitachi Sunrockers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Hitachi Sunrockers were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American swingman Dijon Thompson (201-83, college: UCLA) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) with 15 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Josh Harrellson (208-89, college: Kentucky) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Hokkaido L. moved-up to second place, which they share with Nagoya DD. Loser Hitachi Sunrockers keep the sixth position with 25 games lost. Hokkaido L. will face league's second-placed Chiba Jets at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against Tochigi Brex (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
