Regular Season Round 28: Mgzavrebi - Sokhumi 100-83

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Tbilisi: Mgzavrebi (#7) and Sokhumi (#9). Mgzavrebi (11-14) smashed visiting Sokhumi (1-24) by 17 points 100-83. The game was mostly controlled by Mgzavrebi. Sokhumi was better in second period 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mgzavrebi players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The winners were led by naturalized Azerbaijani forward Davit Barbakadze (203-82) who scored that evening 23 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and international Kakhaber Jintcharadze (195-93) supported him with 19 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Five Mgzavrebi players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds by center Sergo Atuashvili (223-85) did not help to save the game for Sokhumi. Ukrainian swingman Sergii Pryimak (204-96, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 20 points for lost side. Sokhumi's coach Mikheil Kobeshavidze rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Mgzavrebi have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 11-14 record. Sokhumi lost twenty second consecutive game. They stay dead last with 24 lost games. Mgzavrebi will have a break next round. Sokhumi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Olimpi.
