Second Stage Round 6: Gorizont - Tsmoki-Minsk 58-72

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Minsk: Tsmoki-Minsk (#2) and Gorizont (#3). Gorizont was defeated at home 58-72 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game without a history. Tsmoki-Minsk led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Gorizont's 28. They outrebounded Gorizont 46-29 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tsmoki-Minsk looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international center Viktoryia Hasper (192-88) who scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. American center Kai James (198-95, college: Florida St.) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was international center Hanna Brych (190-97) who recorded 11 points and 7 rebounds and the former international guard Natallia Anufryienka (174-85) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Tsmoki-Minsk have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion (27-5) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Olimpia. Loser Gorizont keeps the third place with 11 games lost. Tsmoki-Minsk will meet at home league's second-placed Olimpia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gorizont's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Minsk to the arena Tsmoki-Minsk.
