Quarter-Finals Round 1: Cherkasy - Politekhnik 128-89

Cherkasy stormed past Politekhnik for the opening victory. The game without a history. Cherkasy led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Politekhnik's 40. Cherkasy forced 19 Politekhnik turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Cherkasy especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 19 passes made by Politekhnik's players. The former international swingman Oleksandr Kolchenko (195-88) fired 40 points (!!!) and 4 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winners. American forward Shaheed Davis (206-94, college: Cent.Florida) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Anton Rochnyak (205-91) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and Serbian point guard Vuk Jovanovic (183-95) added 16 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
