There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Mens Sana 1871 (12-15) edged on the road 10th ranked NPC Rieti (13-14) 79-77 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Czech Tomas Kyzlink (195-93) who scored 25 points. American forward Devin Ebanks (206-89, college: W.Virginia) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. Four Mens Sana 1871 players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Nigerian guard Zaid Hearst (193-92, college: Quinnipiac) who recorded 19 points and 5 rebounds and the former international power forward Angelo Gigli (209-83) added 8 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. NPC Rieti's coach Luciano Nunzi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mens Sana 1871 maintains twelfth place in A2 with 12-15 record. Loser NPC Rieti keeps the tenth position with 14 games lost. Mens Sana 1871 will face higher ranked Legnano (#3) in Castellanza in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
