Regular Season Round 21: BK Ogre - Betsafe/Liepaja 110-74

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Betsafe's (8-17) road loss to fourth ranked BK Ogre (17-8) 74-110 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by BK Ogre. Betsafe managed to win fourth quarter 32-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Betsafe 51-32 including 18 on the offensive glass. BK Ogre looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Betsafe's players. 25 personal fouls committed by Betsafe helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Point guard Marcis Vitols (186-92) stepped up and scored 15 points and 7 assists for the winners and guard Janis Antrops (193-91) chipped in 20 points. BK Ogre's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Armands Berkis (205-0) with 19 points and 6 rebounds and the former international swingman Mareks Jurevicus (197-85) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. BK Ogre have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 17-8 record. Betsafe lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 17 games lost. BK Ogre are looking forward to face Jekabpils (#6) on the road in the next round. Betsafe will play against Valmiera and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
