Regular Season Round 30: Hispano Am. - Olimpico LB 85-101

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Rio Gallegos where 11th ranked Hispano Am. (13-14) was defeated by twelfth ranked Olimpico de La Banda (14-15) 101-85 on Saturday. Olimpico de La Banda shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 61.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Facundo Giorgi (204-85, college: FIU) scored 21 points to lead the charge for the winners and American-Puerto Rican Ramon Clemente (200-85, college: Wichita St.) chipped in 21 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American-Panamanian center Javier Carter (203-91, college: S.Alabama) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and center Fernando Podesta (205-92) scored 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hispano Am.'s coach Marcelo Richotti tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Olimpico de La Banda moved-up to ninth place. Loser Hispano Am. dropped to the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Olimpico de La Banda will face Quilmes MP (#14) in Mar del Plata in the next round where they are favorite. Hispano Am. will play at home against Atenas and hope to win that game.
