Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Gipuzkoa (10-15) lost to second ranked Baskonia (18-7) in San Sebastian 72-84 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 10 points at the halftime before their 52-30 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Baskonia looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Quite impressive performance for American guard Matt Janning (195-88, college: Northeastern, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who helped to win the game recording 16 points. Georgian Tornike Shengelia (206-91) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Five Baskonia players scored in double figures. American forward Jordan Swing (198-90, college: UAB, agency: Two Points) answered with 18 points and 7 rebounds and Dutch center Henk Norel (213-87) added 15 points and 6 assists in the effort for Gipuzkoa. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Baskonia have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain second place with 18-7 record having four points less than leader Real Madrid. Newly promoted Gipuzkoa dropped to the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. Baskonia will face Andorra (#6) at home in the next round. Gipuzkoa will play against Valencia Basket (#4) and hope to win that game.
