Second Stage Round 9: Heffingen - T.Hesperange 83-82

Important game to mention about took place in Heffingen. Fourth ranked Heffingen (6-21) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 4th placed T.Hesperange (13-14) 83-82 on Saturday evening. Heffingen outrebounded T.Hesperange 49-32 including 35 on the defensive glass. American swingman Jovonni Shuler (195-87, college: Savannah St.) stepped up and scored 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Ryan Logan (201-94, college: Stonehill) chipped in 19 points and 12 rebounds. Shuler is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Heffingen's coach Alexandre Pires allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American forward Pierce Cumpstone (203-94, college: Stonehill) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds and point guard Pol Goebel (186-96) scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Newly promoted Heffingen maintains fourth place with 6-21 record. T.Hesperange lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the third position with 14 games lost. They share it with BC Mess. Heffingen will play against league's second-placed Kordall Steelers in Rodange in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. T.Hesperange will play at home against Contern and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
