Regular Season Round 49: Fukuoka Rizing - Akita NH 73-91

There was a minor upset when leader Fukuoka Rizing (38-10) was defeated at home by first ranked Akita Happinets (44-4) 91-73 on Saturday. Akita Happinets forced 22 Fukuoka Rizing turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The former international guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) stepped up and scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American forward Chris Cayole (201-85, college: St.Michael's) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side guard Daisuke Kobayashi (188-87) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and American Eric Jacobsen (208-94, college: Arizona St.) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Akita Happinets have an impressive series of twenty two victories in a row. They maintain first place with 44-4 record which they share with defeated Fukuoka Rizing. Newly promoted Fukuoka Rizing still keeps top position with ten games lost. Akita Happinets will have a break next round. Fukuoka Rizing will play again at home against the league's leader Akita Happinets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
