Regular Season Round 25: FC Barcelona - Estudiantes 95-100

Very important is a home loss of third ranked FC Barcelona (17-8) against thirteenth ranked Movil Estudiantes (10-14) on Sunday night. Host FC Barcelona was defeated by Movil Estudiantes in a tough game in Barcelona 95-100. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of FC Barcelona. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-18. But FC Barcelona won second period 25-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American-Israeli swingman Sylven Landesberg (198-90, college: Virginia) stepped up and scored 48 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds for the winners and point guard Dario Brizuela (191-94) chipped in 9 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side French point guard Thomas Heurtel (189-89, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 18 points and 7 assists and Finnish Petteri Koponen (194-88) scored 19 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Movil Estudiantes moved-up to twelfth place. FC Barcelona at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. Movil Estudiantes will play against RETAbet BB (#16) in Bilbao in the next round. FC Barcelona will play on the road against Gran Canaria (#5) in Las Palmas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
