Regular Season Round 21: Promitheas - Cretan Kings 94-72

Date: April 1, 2018
There was no surprise in Patras where 9th ranked Cretan Kings (8-13) was crushed by sixth ranked Promitheas (13-8) 94-72 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Promitheas. Cretan Kings was better in third quarter 13-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Promitheas dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Cretan Kings' 36. Promitheas forced 19 Cretan Kings turnovers. The best player for the winners was American center Octavius Ellis (208-93, college: Cincinnati) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Senegalese forward Mouhammad Faye (208-85, college: SMU) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. Five Promitheas players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Malcolm Armstead (187-89, college: Wichita St.) who recorded 18 points and 4 assists and naturalized Cypriot Andreas Christodoulou (197-95) added 18 points respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Promitheas moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Cretan Kings keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. Promitheas will face Kolossos HH (#8) in Rodou in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Cretan Kings will play at home against the league's leader Panathinaikos and hope to win that game.
