Regular Season Round 25: Andorra - Zaragoza 100-77
Date: April 1, 2018
Very expected game when 14th ranked Zaragoza (8-17) was smashed on the road by seventh ranked Andorra (15-10) 100-77 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 100-77. Andorra made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Zaragoza was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American-Lithuanian John Shurna (204-90, college: Northwestern) who helped to win the game recording 21 points. Serbian-Greek Vladimir Jankovic (202-90) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Five Andorra players scored in double figures. American guard Gary Neal (193-84, college: Towson) answered with 26 points and 5 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and Dutch center Nicolas de-Jong (210-88) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for Zaragoza. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Andorra moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Gran Canaria and Fuenlabrada. Loser Zaragoza keeps the fourteenth position with 17 games lost. Andorra will face league's second-placed Baskonia in Vitoria in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zaragoza will play at home against Joventut (#18) and hope to win that game.
