Regular Season Round 25: Valencia - UCAM Murcia 73-84

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked UCAM Murcia (13-12) won against on the road 4th placed Valencia Basket (16-9) 84-73 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by UCAM Murcia. Valencia Basket was better in third quarter 23-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. UCAM Murcia dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Valencia Basket's 20. They outrebounded Valencia Basket 39-24 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for UCAM Murcia especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Quite impressive performance for British Ovie Soko (201-91, college: Duquesne) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. American-Dominican swingman Sadiel Rojas (197-89, college: Okla.Wesleyan) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Four UCAM Murcia players scored in double figures. UCAM Murcia's coach Ibon Navarro used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international Alberto Abalde (202-95) answered with 16 points and Montenegrin power forward Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: BeoBasket) added 17 points in the effort for Valencia Basket. UCAM Murcia maintains tenth place with 13-12 record. Defending champion Valencia Basket keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. UCAM Murcia will face Real Betis (#17) in Sevilla in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Valencia Basket will play on the road against Gipuzkoa (#13) in San Sebastian and hope to win that game.
