Not a big story in a game in Pireus where 8th ranked Esperides (8-12) was defeated by second ranked Faros Keratsiniou (17-3) 60-55. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Esperides was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 29-22 second half run of Faros Keratsiniou. Faros Keratsiniou had a 33-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Esperides was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by point guard Zoi Kechagia (170-79) who scored that evening 18 points and 4 assists and forward Efstathia-Zafeira Gkritza (182-91) supported her with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds by American guard Ariana Moorer (170-91, college: Virginia) did not help to save the game for Esperides. American-Mexican forward Jacqueline Luna-Castro (188-93, college: Charleston) added 12 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Newly promoted Faros Keratsiniou maintains second position with 17-3 record having just three points less than leader Olympiacos. Esperides at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the ninth place with 12 games lost. Faros Keratsiniou will play against Dafni Agioy (#4) in Athens in the next round. Esperides will play at home against Panathinaikos (#12) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
