Regular Season Round 50: Fukushima - Hiroshima D. 73-84

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Fukushima (28-19) against fourth ranked Dragonflies (26-23) on Sunday night. Host Fukushima was defeated by Dragonflies in Fukushima 84-73. Dragonflies dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Fukushima's 40. They outrebounded Fukushima 42-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. Dragonflies looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Shogo Asayama (192-81) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Point guard Shinya Murakami (172-91) responded with 12 points and 4 assists and American center Jarred Shaw (208-90, college: Utah St.) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Five Fukushima players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Dragonflies have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Ehime OV. Loser Fukushima keeps the second position with 19 games lost. Dragonflies will meet at home Orange Vikings (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Fukushima will play against Aomori Watts and hope to secure a win.
