Regular Season Round 30: Breogan - Araberri 106-98
Date: April 1, 2018
LEB Gold top team - Leche Rio Breogan (24-6) added another victory to their record on Sunday. This time they beat tenth ranked Araberri (13-17) in Lugo 106-98. Araberri was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 23-14 charge of Leche Rio Breogan, which allowed them to win the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Leche Rio Breogan made 7 blocks. American center Matt Stainbrook (208-92, college: Xavier, agency: 3Eye) notched 24 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and point guard Ricardo Uriz (188-80) supported him with 21 points and 8 assists. Even 30 points and 5 rebounds by American point guard Johnny Dee (183-92, college: San Diego) did not help to save the game for Araberri. His fellow American import point guard Alec Wintering (183-95, college: Portland) added 24 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leche Rio Breogan maintains first position with 24-6 record. Loser Araberri keeps the tenth place with 17 games lost. Leche Rio Breogan will meet Cocinas.com (#13) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Araberri will play against Caceres Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
