Ninth-ranked Villa Mitre CF (17-23) gave a tough game to third ranked Estudiantes O. (23-14) in Buenos Aires. The visitors from Olavarria managed to secure only two-point victory 80-78. However their fans expected much easier game. Estudiantes O. players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The winners were led by swingman Santiago Arese (196-87) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists and guard Christian Schoppler (185-86) supported him with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Estudiantes O. players scored in double figures. Even 30 points by swingman Tomas Cocha (193-98) did not help to save the game for Villa Mitre CF. American Tony Criswell (206-91, college: Missouri) added 19 points and 12 rebounds. Estudiantes O. have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain third position in South with 23-14 record having just three points less than leader Hindu. Villa Mitre CF lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth place with 23 games lost. Estudiantes O. will play against league's leader CA Platense in Florida in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
