Regular Season Round 31: Osaka Evessa - Niigata Albirex 107-85

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Osaka. Fourth ranked Osaka Evessa faced 4th placed Niigata Albirex. Host Osaka Evessa (17-32) smashed guests from Niigata (21-28) 107-85. Osaka Evessa dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata Albirex's 36. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. Osaka Evessa looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Center Keith Benson (211-88, college: Oakland) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Forward David Wear (208-90, college: UCLA) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Five Osaka Evessa players scored in double figures. Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) produced a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Osaka Evessa moved-up to third place, which they share with Shiga L-Stars. Niigata Albirex lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fourth position with 28 games lost. Osaka Evessa will face Shimane Magic (#6) on the road in the next round. Niigata Albirex will play against the league's second-placed Diamond Dolphins and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
