Regular Season Round 31: Toyama Grouses - Yokohama BC 84-82

Sixth-ranked Yokohama BC (13-36) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked Toyama Grouses (21-28) on Sunday. Toyama Grouses managed to secure only two-point victory 84-82. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Yokohama BC. It was a great evening for international forward Naoki Uto (188-91) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. American forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific, agency: Pensack Sports) helped adding 11 points and 13 rebounds. At the losing side the former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) responded with 18 points and Tanzanian center Hasheem Thabeet (218-87, college: Connecticut) scored 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocks. Four Toyama Grouses and five Yokohama BC players scored in double figures. Yokohama BC's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Toyama Grouses moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Niigata Albirex. Loser Yokohama BC keeps the sixth position with 36 games lost. Toyama Grouses will meet at home higher ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Yokohama BC will play against Nishinomiya S. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
