Regular Season Round 21: Panathinaikos - Aris 84-63

Undefeated leader Panathinaikos delivered the twenty first consecutive victory. This time they crushed 11th ranked Aris (7-14) 84-63 in Athens. The game was mostly controlled by Panathinaikos. Aris was better in fourth quarter 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Panathinaikos shot 26 for 39 from the free-throw line, while Aris only scored eight points from the stripe. Panathinaikos forced 22 Aris turnovers and outrebounded them 43-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. Aris was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American guard Marcus Denmon (191-90, college: Missouri, agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 6 rebounds. International Konstantinos Mitoglou (208-96, college: Wake Forest) contributed with 11 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Michalis Tsairelis (206-88) answered with 14 points and the former international point guard Giannis Athinaiou (194-88, agency: Octagon Europe) added 9 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Aris. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the twenty first consecutive win for Panathinaikos. Defending champion maintains first place with 21-0 record. Aris at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Panathinaikos will play against Cretan Kings (#9) in Rethymno in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aris will play at home against Kymis and hopes to get back on the winning track.
