Second Stage Round 5: Tsmoki-Minsk - Grodno-93 107-88

There was a change at the Premier League leadership position after last games. Round 5 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Grodno-93 (35-5). They were crushed by second ranked Tsmoki-Minsk (35-5) 107-88 on Tuesday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Grodno-93. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Tsmoki-Minsk dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Grodno-93's 34 and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Grodno-93 38-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. Tsmoki-Minsk looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. International forward Yauheni Beliankou (197-95) stepped up and scored 31 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and the former international Aliaksei Trastsinetski (200-86) chipped in 19 points and 12 rebounds. Tsmoki-Minsk's coach Aleksander Krutikov used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Ilya Sharipov (198-91) responded with 21 points and the former international guard Kiryl Sitnik (190-89) scored 18 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with defeated Grodno-93. Grodno-93 will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Tsmoki-Minsk will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Impuls BGUIR. It will be extra interesting game as Impuls BGUIR is their local rival from Minsk.
