Regular Season Round 27: TBV Start - Anwil 97-100

Twelfth-ranked Start (15-13) gave a tough game to first ranked Anwil (23-6) in Lublin. The visitors from Wloclawek managed to secure only three-point victory 100-97. However their fans expected much easier game. Anwil forced 25 Start turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Start was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for Cape Verdean-Portuguese Ivan Almeida (198-89, college: Stonehill) who led the winners and scored 25 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. American-Georgian forward Quinton Hosley (201-84, college: Fresno St.) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. American swingman Chavaughn Lewis (196-93, college: Marist) came up with 30 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and the other American import point guard James Washington (182-87, college: Middle Tenn.St.) added 23 points and 11 assists respectively for Start in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Anwil maintains first place with 23-6 record. Start at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with 13 games lost. Anwil will play against Trefl (#8) in Sopot in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Start will play on the road against MKS Dabrowa Gornicza and hopes to get back on the winning track.
