Second Stage Round 6: Vitebsk - COR-Borisfen 75-96

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Vitebsk. Third ranked COR-Borisfen faced one of their biggest challengers Vitebsk. Guests from Mogilev (32-5) smashed host Vitebsk (21-18) 96-75. It looked good early as Vitebsk took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then COR-Borisfen had a 23-16 second period charge getting the lead and Vitebsk was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-96. COR-Borisfen forced 25 Vitebsk turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. It was a good game for American forward Justin Coleman (203-94, college: Charleston) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import point guard Alex Strauther (177-91, college: CS Dominguez H.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Five COR-Borisfen players scored in double figures. The former international guard Maksim Shustov (188-86) replied with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and Yahor Patupchik (191-94) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Vitebsk. Vitebsk's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. COR-Borisfen maintains third position with 32-5 record having 4 victories less than leader Tsmoki II. Vitebsk lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 18 games lost. COR-Borisfen will play against league's leader Tsmoki-Minsk at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Vitebsk will play against the league's second-placed Grodno-93 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
