No shocking result in a game in Greensborough where leader Bendigo Braves (1-0) edged 7th ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (1-1) 78-77 on Friday. Diamond Valley Eagles cut a 14-point halftime deficit to one at the end of the game. Bendigo Braves forced 19 Diamond Valley Eagles turnovers. American guard Jeremy Kendle (186-88, college: Bellarmine) stepped up and scored 36 points (!!!), 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners and his fellow American import forward Ray Turner (206-90, college: Texas A&M) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. New Zealand forward Dyson King-Hawea (200-92) responded with 23 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Mike Best (208-93, college: Cal-Irvine) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Four Diamond Valley Eagles players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Bendigo Braves maintains second place in League with 1-0 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Albury W.B. Loser Diamond Valley Eagles dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. Bendigo Braves will have a break next round. Diamond Valley Eagles will play on the road against Spectres (#3) in East Burwood and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
