Regular Season Round 27: Saint-Chamond - Poitiers 84-75

Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Saint Chamond (17-10) beat at home 16th ranked Poitiers (8-19) 84-75 on Friday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Saint Chamond dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Poitiers' 28 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Strangely Poitiers outrebounded Saint Chamond 37-25 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Jonathan Hoyaux (195-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 7 rebounds. Cuban power forward Grismay Paumier (204-88) helped adding 22 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American-Dominican guard Anthony Goods (191-87, college: Stanford, agency: Pensack Sports) with 30 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Morris Curry (181-87, college: Providence) scored 10 points and 6 assists. Poitiers' coach Ruddy Nelhomme tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Saint Chamond moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Lille. Poitiers lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the fifteenth position with 19 games lost. Saint Chamond will face higher ranked Chorale de Roanne (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Poitiers will play against Provence Basket (#4) and hope to win that game.
