Regular Season Round 5: Penrith P. - Hills H. 59-91

Date: April 7, 2018
Very expected game in Penrith where 9th ranked Panthers (1-4) were crushed by third ranked Hills Hornets (3-1) 91-59 on Saturday. Hills Hornets dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Panthers' 34. They outrebounded Panthers 48-34 including a 40-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hills Hornets looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Panthers' players. Naturalized British forward Paul Brotherson (198-89, college: Metro St.) stepped up and scored 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Adrian Cabrera chipped in 16 points. Guard Benjamin Kearins (188, agency: MKP Management) responded with 17 points and 4 assists and Sean Weekes scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Hills Hornets went down to fourth position (League) due to points difference. Newly promoted Panthers keep the ninth place with four games lost. Hills Hornets will face league's second-placed Newcastle Hunters in Broadmeadow in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panthers will play at home against Sutherland Sharks (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
