Regular Season Round 51: Gunma - Fukuoka Rizing 91-94

Second-ranked Gunma (27-22) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Fukuoka Rizing (40-10) on Saturday. The visitors from Fukuoka managed to secure only three-point victory 94-91. However their fans expected easier game. Fukuoka Rizing looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American Eric Jacobsen (208-94, college: Arizona St.) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Yasuhiro Yamashita (187-86) accounted for 12 points and 8 assists for the winning side. Four Fukuoka Rizing players scored in double figures. American forward Scootie Randall (198-90, college: Temple) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import center Ryan Stephan (208-94, college: Colorado Mesa) added 22 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Gunma in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Fukuoka Rizing maintains first place with 40-10 record. Loser Gunma dropped to the third position with 22 games lost. Fukuoka Rizing will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Gunma will play again against the league's leader Fukuoka Rizing and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
