Regular Season Round 51: Aomori Watts - Fukushima 99-100

Fifth-ranked Aomori Watts (13-37) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Fukushima (29-19). The visitors from Fukushima managed to secure only one-point victory 100-99. However their fans expected easier game. Fukushima made 26-of-29 charity shots (89.7 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Aomori Watts helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Deon Jones (198-93, college: Monmouth) who scored 36 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Nigerian center Solomon Alabi (216-88, college: Florida St.) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Fukushima's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Joe Burton (201-90, college: Oregon St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists and the other American import center Kyle Barone (208-89, college: Idaho) added 27 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Fukushima maintains second place with 29-19 record having 2 victories less than leader Akita NH. Aomori Watts at the other side keep the fifth position with 37 games lost. Fukushima will have a break next round. Aomori Watts will play again at home against the league's second-placed Fukushima (#2) and hope to win that game.
