Regular Season Round 32: Hitachi SR - Toyota Alvark 69-74

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Toyota Alvark (38-14) defeated 6th ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (24-28) in Tokyo 74-69 on Saturday. Hitachi Sunrockers were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 7 rebounds. The former international forward Daiki Tanaka (191-91) contributed with 9 points for the winners. Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds and international point guard Leo Vendrame (183-93) added 17 points in the effort for Hitachi Sunrockers. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Toyota Alvark maintains second position with 38-14 record having three points less than leader Ryukyu GK. Hitachi Sunrockers lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 28 games lost. Toyota Alvark will face league's second-placed Diamond Dolphins in Nagoya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hitachi Sunrockers will play on the road against Shiga L-Stars (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
