Regular Season Round 5: Knox R. - Waverley F. 73-64

There was a minor upset in Wantirna South where higher ranked Waverley Falcons (1-2) were defeated by twelfth ranked Knox Raiders (1-2) 73-64 on Saturday. Knox Raiders dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Waverley Falcons' 22. Knox Raiders forced 24 Waverley Falcons turnovers. American forward Christopher Kaba (203-88, college: N.Colorado) stepped up and scored 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import guard Durrell McDonald (188, college: Mercyhurst) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four Knox Raiders players scored in double figures. American guard Jaquez Motley (185, college: Coker) responded with 16 points and 5 rebounds and guard Jason Reardon (189-83) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Knox Raiders left bottom position moving up to tenth place in League. Knox Raiders will face league's leader McKinnon C. at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Waverley Falcons will play against Eltham Wildcats (#4) and hope to win that game.
