There was a minor upset in Melbourne where 5th ranked Casey C. (1-2) was defeated by seventh ranked Blackburn V. (1-3) 84-71 on Saturday. Blackburn V. forced 20 Casey C. turnovers. Strangely Casey C. outrebounded Blackburn V. 47-34 including 17 on the offensive glass. Brendan Trewella stepped up and scored 25 points, 7 assists and 6 steals (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and forward Ryan Benson (198-81) chipped in 21 points. Blackburn V.'s coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Raheem Lemons (196-93, college: Central State) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and Brandon Polk produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 15 rebounds. Four Casey C. players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Blackburn V. went down to twelfth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Casey C. dropped to the sixth place with two games lost. Blackburn V. will face higher ranked Magic (#9) in Hawthorn in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
