Regular Season Round 32: Niigata Albirex - Nagoya DD 78-65

There was a minor upset when second-ranked Diamond Dolphins (25-26) lost on the road to fourth ranked Niigata Albirex (22-29) 78-65 on Saturday. Niigata Albirex outrebounded Diamond Dolphins 39-23 including 27 on the defensive glass. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds. The other American import power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) replied with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Takaya Sasayama (178-93) added 7 points and 5 assists in the effort for Diamond Dolphins. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Niigata Albirex maintains fourth position with 22-29 record, which they share with Toyama Grouses. Diamond Dolphins lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the second place with 26 games lost. Niigata Albirex will face league's leader Ryukyu GK in Okinawa in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Diamond Dolphins will play on the road against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
