Regular Season Round 32: Ryukyu GK - Toshiba BT 79-77

Third-ranked Toshiba Thunders (34-18) were very close to win a game against first ranked Ryukyu GK (39-12) in Okinawa on Sunday. Ryukyu GK managed to secure only two-point victory 79-77. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Toshiba Thunders. The winners were led by the former international guard Ryuichi Kishimoto (176-90) who scored that evening 32 points and 4 assists and American forward Hassan Martin (201-95, college: Rhode Island) supported him with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Even 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by American power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) did not help to save the game for Toshiba Thunders. The former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) added 13 points and 4 assists for the guests. Four Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Ryukyu GK maintains first position with 39-12 record. Loser Toshiba Thunders keep the third place with 18 games lost. Ryukyu GK will meet Niigata Albirex (#5) on the road in the next round. Toshiba Thunders will play against San-en NeoPhoenix in Hamamatsu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
