The game with biggest result difference took place in Ashdod. Local Maccabi Ashdod (14-9) beat 8th ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (9-14) 97-79. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Ashdod. Ironi Nes-Ziona was better in third quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Ironi Nes-Ziona 41-27 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Maccabi Ashdod shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 51.6 percentage. American-Finnish center Gerald Lee (208-87, college: ODU) accounted for 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Four Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. American swingman Daequan Cook (196-87, college: Ohio St.) came up with 28 points and Nigerian power forward Talib Zanna (206-90, college: Pittsburgh, agency: 3Eye) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Ironi Nes-Ziona in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maccabi Ashdod have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Hapoel J-M. Newly promoted Ironi Nes-Ziona keeps the eighth position with 14 games lost. Maccabi Ashdod's next round opponent will be Bnei Hasharon (#9) in Hod Hasharon which should be theoretically an easy game. Ironi Nes-Ziona will play at home against Hapoel Tel-Aviv and hope to win that game.
