There was no surprise when Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (0-3) was defeated at home by Rayos de Hermosillo (2-1) 107-96. Rayos de Hermosillo made 27-of-31 charity shots (87.1 percent) during the game, while Halcones de Ciudad Obregon only scored eleven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Halcones de Ciudad Obregon 41-25 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The game was also dominated by American players. It was an exceptional evening for swingman Quinton Chievous (198-92, college: Hampton) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Tyshawn Abbott (192-88, college: Arizona St.) accounted for 23 points for the winning side. Five Rayos de Hermosillo players scored in double figures. Forward Nick Harney (203-92, college: Fairmont St.) came up with 31 points and 6 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and forward Landon Atterberry (198-93, college: LIU Brooklyn) added 26 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Halcones de Ciudad Obregon in the defeat. Rayos de Hermosillo will have a break next round. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will play again at home against Rayos de Hermosillo (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
