Regular Season Round 26: Holargos - Iraklis 93-94

Important game to mention about took place in Holargos. Third ranked Iraklis (20-6) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging second-ranked Holargos (21-5) 94-93 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Holargos. Iraklis players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Holargos was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Vasilis Angelakopoulos (203-79) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and Kostas Kakaroudis (204-83) supported him with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!). Even a double-double of 20 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists by Angelos Tsamis (192-81) did not help to save the game for Holargos. American-Hungarian forward Rashad Bell (203-82, college: Boston U.) added 18 points for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Iraklis have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 20-6 record having five points less than leader Peristeri GS. Holargos at the other side keeps the second place with five games lost. Iraklis will play against league's leader Peristeri GS in Athens in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Holargos will play on the road against Marousi in Athens and hopes to get back on the winning track.
