Regular Season Round 27: Estudiantes - Zaragoza 84-74

Date: April 11, 2018
Very expected game in Madrid where 15th ranked Zaragoza (8-19) was defeated by eleventh ranked Movil Estudiantes (12-14) 84-74 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Movil Estudiantes. Zaragoza was better in third quarter 18-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Movil Estudiantes made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was Bosnian-Croatian guard Goran Suton (208-85, college: Michigan St.) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. American-Azerbaijani forward Niklas Caner-Medley (203-83, college: Maryland, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Four Movil Estudiantes players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Gary Neal (193-84, college: Towson) who recorded 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international point guard Tomas Bellas (185-90) added 12 points and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Movil Estudiantes. They maintain eleventh place with 12-14 record. Zaragoza lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifteenth position with 19 games lost. Movil Estudiantes will face higher ranked Andorra (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zaragoza will play against Valencia Basket (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
