The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked DELTA's (9-18) road loss to seventh ranked Mgzavrebi (13-14) 76-85 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 8 points at the halftime before their 42-25 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Mgzavrebi dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to DELTA's 40. They outrebounded DELTA 39-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for forward Irakli Alkhanaidze (202-92) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 6 rebounds. International Kakhaber Jintcharadze (195-93) helped adding 20 points. At the losing side American Deondre Ray (196, college: Cameron) responded with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import point guard Nickolas Neal (183-89, college: Purdue-NCent.) scored 16 points and 7 assists. Mgzavrebi have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 13-14 record. Newly promoted DELTA keeps the eighth position with 18 games lost. Mgzavrebi will meet higher ranked Batumi (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. DELTA will play against Olimpi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
