Regular Season Round 24: Ironi Nes-Ziona - Hapoel T-A 92-75

Date: April 12, 2018
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Hapoel Tel-Aviv (12-12) and Ironi Nes-Ziona (10-14), which took place in Nes Ziyona. Higher ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv lost to ninth ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona in a road game 75-92 on Thursday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hapoel Tel-Aviv. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 54-30 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Ironi Nes-Ziona looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The winners were led by Nigerian power forward Talib Zanna (206-90, college: Pittsburgh, agency: 3Eye) who scored that evening 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American swingman Daequan Cook (196-87, college: Ohio St.) supported him with 26 points. Ironi Nes-Ziona's coach Nadav Zilberstein used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 16 points and 7 rebounds by naturalized American Adrian Banks (191-86, college: Arkansas St.) did not help to save the game for Hapoel Tel-Aviv. The former international Raviv Limonad (191-84) added 15 points and 6 assists. Four Hapoel Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. Ironi Nes-Ziona moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Maccabi Rishon. Loser Hapoel Tel-Aviv keeps the fifth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Hapoel Eilat. Ironi Nes-Ziona will meet higher ranked Hapoel Eilat (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play against Bnei Hasharon and hope to secure a win.
