Regular Season Round 28: Aix-Maurienne - Nantes 65-52

Date: April 13, 2018
Not a big story in a game in Aix-les-Bains where 17th ranked Nantes (8-20) was defeated by twelfth ranked Aix-Maurienne (12-16) 65-52. It looked good early as Nantes took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Aix-Maurienne had a 26-9 second period charge getting the lead and Nantes was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 52-65. The winners were led by Gambian forward Moses Sonko (196-83, college: Co.Carolina, agency: HMS) who scored that evening 10 points and 7 rebounds and American-British point guard Akeem Williams (178-91, college: Mass.-Lowell) supported him with 13 points. Aix-Maurienne's coach Fabien Romeyer used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 11 points and 5 assists by American point guard Jamar Diggs (188-88, college: Wofford, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Nantes. American-British power forward Laurence Ekperigin (200-88, college: LeMoyne) added 7 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Aix-Maurienne have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Evreux. Nantes lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixteenth position with 20 games lost. Aix-Maurienne's next round opponent will be higher ranked Lille Metropole (#5) on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Nantes will play against Caen (#13) and hope to win that game.
