Regular Season Round 6: Melbourne T. - Albury W.B. 79-93

There was a minor upset in Melbourne where bottom-ranked Tigers (0-2) were defeated by seventh ranked Bandits (2-1) 93-79 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Bandits. Tigers was better in third quarter 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 62.5 percentage. The best player for the winners was point guard Deba George (183-85) who scored 38 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists. American power forward Lamar Mallory (201-90, college: Glenville St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Mallory is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Bandits players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Tom Wilson (195-97, college: SMU) who recorded 28 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and D Acuoth added 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks respectively. Bandits moved-up to second place in League. Loser Tigers still closes the standings with two games lost. Bandits will face NW Tasmania Thunder (#5) in Ulverstone in the next round. Tigers will play on the road against Kilsyth Cobras and hope to get finally their first victory.
