Fifth-ranked Hokkaido L. (26-27) gave a tough game to second ranked Kyoto Hannar. (32-21) in Saporro. The visitors from Kyoto managed to secure only two-point victory 73-71. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hokkaido L.. It was a good game for American center Joshua Smith (208-92, college: Georgetown) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists (on 12-of-13 shooting from the field). Point guard Ito Tatsuya (173-94) contributed with 10 points, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and the former international guard Ryota Sakurai (194-83) added 19 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Hokkaido L.Hokkaido L.'s coach Kota Mizuno tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Kyoto Hannar. maintains second place with 32-21 record having twelve points less than leader Ryukyu GK which they share with defeated Hokkaido L. Hokkaido L. at the other side dropped to the second position with 27 games lost. Kyoto Hannar.'s next round opponent will be Yokohama BC (#6) at home. Hokkaido L. will play against Osaka Evessa (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
