Regular Season Round 6: Hermosillo - Tijuana 75-78

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (4-2) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by sixth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (4-3) 78-75. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Rayos de Hermosillo. It was a good game for American forward Mychal Ammons (198-92, college: S.Alabama) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. The other American import guard Gary Ricks (185-91, college: Drake) contributed with 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American forward Emmanuel Little (196-85, college: N.Dakota) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international point guard Steve Monreal (180-86, college: CS Monterey) added 7 points, 6 rebounds and 15 assists in the effort for Rayos de Hermosillo. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rayos de Hermosillo's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tijuana Zonkeys moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Durango. Rayos de Hermosillo at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. They share it with Guasave and Guaymas. Tijuana Zonkeys is looking forward to face Pioneros Los Mochis (#8) at home in the next round. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against the league's second-placed Frayles de Guasave (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
