Regular Season Round 33: Shiga L-Stars - Hitachi SR 74-90

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Shiga L-Stars (19-34) were defeated at home by sixth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (25-29) 90-74 on Saturday. Hitachi Sunrockers looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) stepped up and scored 18 points for the winners and international point guard Leo Vendrame (183-93) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American-Israeli center DOr Fischer (211-81, college: W.Virginia) with 16 points and 5 rebounds and center Samba Faye (205-87) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains sixth place with 25-29 record. Loser Shiga L-Stars keep the fourth position with 34 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face league's leader Chiba Jets at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Shiga L-Stars will play against Nishinomiya S. in Hyogo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
