Regular Season Round 6: SW Slammers - Lakeside L. 76-94

Everything went according to plan when top-ranked Lightning (6-0) defeated 10th ranked Slammers (2-4) in Bunbury 94-76 on Saturday. Lightning outrebounded Slammers 51-33 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American swingman Ali Schwagmeyer (177-90, college: Quincy) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. Power forward Ashleigh Grant (187-97) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Lightning's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Georgia Denehey (-99) replied with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and Demi Liddle added 19 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) in the effort for Slammers. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lightning maintains first position in League with 6-0 record. Loser Slammers dropped to the ninth place with four games lost. Lightning will have a break next round. Slammers will play at home against Flames (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
