Regular Season Round 30: Valls Nutrion - Cerdanyola 78-63

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Valls Nutrion (17-7) defeated at home 14th ranked Cerdanyola (4-20) 78-63 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Valls Nutrion. Cerdanyola was better in fourth quarter 27-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Cerdanyola to just 7 points in third quarter. Valls Nutrion forced 22 Cerdanyola turnovers. It was a good game for Equatorial Guinean forward Oscar Ngomo (197-90) who led his team to a victory with 18 points. American forward RJ Freeman (206-95, college: Pikeville) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Freeman is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Valls Nutrion players scored in double figures. Valls Nutrion's coach Francesc Canals used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Genis Tena (186-89) replied with 7 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and Marc Algar added 19 points in the effort for Cerdanyola. Valls Nutrion moved-up to third place in Group C-B, which they share with Igualada. Cerdanyola lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 20 games lost. Valls Nutrion will face Olivar (#8) in Zaragoza in the next round where they are favorite. Cerdanyola will play at home against the league's second-placed Pardinyes-L. (#2) and hope to win that game.
