Regular Season Round 53: Yamagata - Aomori Watts 87-107

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Yamagata (23-29) against fifth ranked Aomori Watts (15-37) on Saturday night. Host Yamagata was crushed by Aomori Watts in Yamagata 107-87. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Yamagata. Aomori Watts shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 59.3 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Joe Burton (201-90, college: Oregon St.) nailed 19 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals for the winning side and center Kyle Barone (208-89, college: Idaho) accounted for 17 points and 10 rebounds. Four Aomori Watts players scored in double figures. Forward Billy McShepard (208-87, college: Valdosta St., agency: Blacktop Management) came up with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks and forward Chris Olivier (203-92, college: Oklahoma St.) added 22 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Yamagata in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aomori Watts maintains fifth place with 15-37 record. Yamagata at the other side keeps the third position with 29 games lost. Aomori Watts will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Yamagata will play again at home against Aomori Watts and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
